Saffron, also known as the red gold, is a valuable spice that has a strong, exotic aroma and a bitter taste. It is used to color and flavor many Mediterranean and Asian dishes. Iran is the first and largest producer and exporter of saffron in the world.

The saffron tour is a fantastic and memorable experience to visit the saffron fields during the harvest season, join the locals in the process of picking the flowers of Crocus sativus and separating the stigmas.

After arriving at Shahid Dastgheib International Airport of Shiraz, you will meet and greet Derak representative. Then, you will transfer to hotel to rest.

Leaving Shiraz this morning, you’ll drive toward Estahban (175 km); en route, you’ll visit the seasonal pink salt lake, Maharloo Lake.

Continuing the road toward Estahban, and there, you’ll explore Sarasiab Waterfall.

Today, it’s time to spend time in saffron fields, learn how locals prepare this red gold, and enjoy experiencing their  lifestyle.

Before the sunrise, you’ll drive towards the Estahban saffron fields and you’ll participate in saffron picking and separating the saffron stigma. You will enjoy having breakfast and lunch with locals in the field; it will be one of the most unforgettable experience of your life.

In the afternoon, you’ll drive back to Shiraz.

Right after having your breakfast, you will drive to Marvdasht County (52 km), to visit the masterpieces of Achaemenid Empire:

• Pasargadae (UNESCO site)
• Necropolis (Naqsh-e Rostam)
• Persepolis (UNESCO site)

At midnight, you will transfer to Shiraz International Airport for departure flight.
